Construction Update 1/20/09
Significant progress has been made on the renovation at Brookfield East in the past several weeks. The site work on the north end of the building continues as preparations are made for the construction of the gymnasium, the training room, and event entrances. The foundations and footings are nearly complete. In the coming weeks the panels that will comprise the walls of the gymnasium will be delivered and installed with the accompanying masonry and the roof structure. A new dust-collecting unit has been installed to service the applied technology facilities.
Behind the scenes progress is being made to prepare for renovation of the existing building. Construction representatives and administration is partnering to finalize the phasing of the project. This will allow BEHS to assure safety and minimize disruptions to the learning environment while the project continues on the projected timeline.
Despite the challenging weather throughout December renovation is well underway at Brookfield East. Following the demolition of room 140 on the Southeast corner of the significant progress has been made to re-route utilities and prepare the site for the construction of the gymnasium, event lobby, and athletic training room. The relocation of the dust collection unit for the industrial arts is scheduled to be completed over the holiday break.
